Our Team - Elizabeth Jativa

Elizabeth Jativa, CCLS

Hospital Buddy Program Advisor

Beth joined StudentsCare as our Hospital Buddy Program Advisor in 2022. As a Child Life Specialist, who has worked in-house with our StudentsCare volunteers, her skills and experiences have strengthened our Hospital Buddy Program nationally.

Beth earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Florida in 2011, with a Minor in Education. She completed her internship at AdventHealth for Children in Orlando, and became certified as a Child Life Specialist in 2012.
For a decade, Beth served as a Certified Child Life Specialist at Holtz Children’s Hospital- working closest with patients in Hematology/Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant, and Neonatology. Beth was also part of the hospital’s Palliative Care team, working alongside its interdisciplinary members to support families and best practices.

In 2015, Beth began serving as a Facility Partner for the StudentsCare Hospital Buddy Program. In this role, she mentored the University of Miami Chapter, scaling the program to 18 active weekly volunteers within five years. Beyond increasing volunteer engagement, Beth collaborated with StudentsCare in developing core training materials and policies to strengthen our mission and vision.  These resources helped lay groundwork for the volunteer training and onboarding processes our organization uses today.

In her current role as Hospital Buddy Program Advisor, Beth oversees StudentsCare chapters across the country and continues to shape the training that prepares our Hospital Buddies for service.  With a heart for Child Life and a commitment to mentoring, she helps students learn the importance of family-centered care. Beth truly embodies our mission, working to inspire a future generation of healthcare providers who lead with empathy.
